Cell Site Analysis combined with mobile device analysis is used to ascertain the likely location of a mobile phone through the detailed examination of historic call data records. The analysis gives an indication as to the likely locations of a known device at any given time and is corroborated by the completion of Radio Frequency Propagation Surveys (RFPS).
Such surveys offer ground truth data to support a given theory that a particular device could have been at a given location at the relevant time.
It also provides clarity as to whether the alibi can be made out or whether the data offers support to the prosecution case.
Smart about intelligence.
Law enforcement agencies usually develop cell site analysis as an intelligence tool and are then able to instruct appropriately qualified experts in order to present evidence of opinion at a trial.
On occasions the prosecution may choose not to present the evidence via an expert, which comes with the associated risks.
At Zentek Digital Investigations we can offer you the expert solution and are able to give free confidential assessment of the evidence in relation to your case by our experts who have spent a combined 44 years working for UK Law Enforcement.
Working with you.
Regardless of whether you are acting on behalf of the prosecution or the defence, you can be assured you that we will listen to your instructions and consider your requirements to provide an evidential package which will be credible, effective and robust when presented to the Court.
In all cases we will provide you with a written quotation and outline of the work to be addressed. This will enable the appropriate authority to be gained and the expert report to be commissioned. We do operate within the funding guidelines of the LAA.
Our typical analysis may include:
Home Location Analysis (where a device wakes and sleeps each day)
Top Cell Analysis (most used cell by the device during a given period)
Co-Location and Non-Co-Location analysis (were two devices together or is there evidence they could not have been together at a given time)
Concurrent usage
Mapping of what cells a device used and their expected area of coverage
Cell Coverage Surveys
Mapping of where cells were found to provide service
Communication Level Analysis
Analysis of Communication Types and Pattern of Usage
The results are written into a comprehensive expert report, maps and colour coded schedules, which can also be displayed on screens or monitors. We avoid technical jargon, therefore leaving a jury in no doubt as to the relevance of the evidence placed before them.
